1.30pm: Weighed & shifted billet up. 4" gun’s crews (port) closed up from 10.00am. Shelling Turks at Inezera {Now Al Muzayra’ah Iraq}. Artillery and troops firing on Turks and advancing. HMS MINER, LEWIS PELLY and SHAITAN in action Kurna bend. Shelling trenches at bend of Tigris and Shatt al Arab.

4.0pm: Inezera occupied by British & burning.

4.20pm: LEWIS PELLY returned. SHAITAN struck badly on bridge. Lieutenant Commander J. G. M. Elkes RNR killed by shell. Coxwain wounded

4.30pm: HMS MINER alongside.

5.0pm: Ceased firing.

5.30pm: Received one officer, one seaman wounded from HMS MINER. British crossed Tigris 1200 yards above Kurnah by dhow under fire

6.0pm: Weighed & proceeded down river to camp

6.45pm: Anchored off creek

8.45pm: Discharged one gunner (RIM) one seaman (afterwards died) from ODIN to MALBINER, (hospital ship). SHAITAN unmanageable wheel and rudder smashed by shell. {Ref 15 }
