US Naval Station, Cristobal, Canal Zone, influenza/respiratory epidemic began

 

On the 27th, in the Receiving Ship, Commonwealth Pier, Boston, Mass, the first phase of a new influenza/respiratory disease pandemic in the Navy probably started, with 69 cases reported by 29th, and 50 transferred to the US Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass

 

 

 

above, with the rapid expansion of the Navy, a typical crowded sleeping area in a naval establishment, in this case the Naval Training Station, San Francisco, conditions which helped to spread the pandemic
