MALAYA 1945

This name had not previously been used by the RN when given to this submarine on launch in 1944.

She was nominated for service in the British Pacific Fleet after brief service in Home Waters. This submarine joined the 4th Submarine Flotilla at Fremantle during April 1945 and was deployed for interception of shipping in the Java Sea. In July that year sank a small craft during Java Sea duties and the next month two coasters in the Malacca Strait.  She returned to UK after VJ Day from service with the BPF.
