Pendant Nos. D.52 (1914), P.7C (1.18). Launched 5.1.98 Vickers. 11,000 tons, 466(oa), 435(pp)x69x26ft. TE 16500ihp, 20.5kts. Armament: 16-6in, 12-12pdr, 4-3pdr, 2-18in tt. Armour: 4in deck, 4.5in guns. 9th CS to 1915, then harbour service, conversion to minelayer completed 9.7.17 Portsmouth DY, 4-6in, 1-4in AA, 354 mines. 1st Mine Squadron, Grangemouth 1917-18. Sold 12.4.20 Ward, Milford Haven. (British Warships 1914-1919)

Amphitrite (launched 5/1/98, sold for BU 12/4/20), was in reserve at Chatham in 1906 but recommissioned for the Home Fleet in February 1907. In March 1910 attached to HMS Vivid at Devonport as Stokers' TS. Recommissioned for 9th Cruiser Squadron in August 1914 and stationed at Cape Verde February-June 1915; laid up at Portsmouth from June 1915 but then converted to minelayer. On completion in August 1917 she was armed with only 4-6in and 1-4in AA gun, and carried 354 mines. She replaced her sister Ariadne on the Dover Barrage in November 1917, laying a total of 5053 mines. In April 1918 operated with US Navy, laying mines in Northern Barrage. Collision with destroyer HMS Nessus September 1918. Paid off June 1919. (Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1906-21)
