RIVER-Class Frigate ordered on 13th December 1941
under the 1941 Build Programme from G. Brown of Greenock and laid down on 30th
June 1942 as Job Number J1513, Yard No 226.The ship was launched on 31st July
1943. and was one of the four of the Class fitted with Steam Turbine instead of
Reciprocating propulsion machinery, Build was completed on 21st January 1944
and had already been adopted by the civil community
of Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire following a successful WARSHIP WEEK
National Savings campaign in March 1942.
